A mass of Christian burial for longtime Lamar resident, Matthew Michael Lujan was held at 2:00PM on Friday, April 22, 2016 at the St. Francis de Sales/Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Reverend Mariusz Wirkowski as Celebrant. A rosary service was held prior to the mass at 1:30PM at the church with Deacon Allan Medina reciting. Interment followed in the Fairmount Cemetery.
Visitation for Matthew was held from 1:00PM until 7:00PM on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at the Peacock Family Chapel.
Matthew was born on April 13, 1967 at Denver, Colorado to Johnny Lujan and Bertha Vargas and passed away on April 16, 2016 at the age of 49.
He is preceded in death by his siblings, Johnny Lujan, Jr.; Mary Jane Vargas and Valerie Lujan; his maternal grandparents, Moisile Vargas and Emilina Vargas.
Matthew is survived by his wife, Loretta Sandoval-Lujan of the family home in Lamar; children, Matthew Michael Lujan, Jr., Mariah Lujan and Andre Lujan all of Lamar; his mother and step-father, Bertha (Frank) Marquardt of Newton, KS and his father Johnny Lujan, Sr. of Alamosa, CO. He is also survived by his siblings, Ronald (Tina) Cruzen of McPherson, KS and Sonia (Steve) Marquardt of Andover, KS as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and many friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Matthew Lujan Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home office.
