Maria Montoya

A celebration of life for longtime Lamar, Colorado resident, Maria Montoya, will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, October 2, 2026 at the Peacock Family Chapel with Pastor Manuel Tamez of the Life Center Church in Lamar officiating. Interment will follow at the Riverside Cemetery.

Visitation for Maria will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2026 from 2:00PM until 5:00PM at the Peacock Family Chapel.

Maria was born on January 5, 1952 in New Mexico to Jose B. and Ofrecenia (Chavez) Montoya and passed away on September 25, 2026 at the Prowers Medical Center at the age of 74 with her family by her side.

She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Demetrio Montoya, Carmen Montoya and Abel Montoya.

Maria is survived by her nieces Delores (August) Adame and Christina (John) Granados both of Lamar, and nephews Abel Montoya of Lamar and Martin Montoya of La Junta, sister-in-law Antonia Montoya of Lamar and son Demetri Montoya of Lamar, CO. She is also survived by numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, other family and many friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lamar Area Hospice either direct or in care of the funeral home office.

Services are under the direction of the Peacock Family.
