A Mass of Christian Burial for longtime Lamar resident, Magdalena Martinez, affectionately known as Molly to her family and friends, will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, February 12, 2016 at the St. Francis de Sales/Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Reverend Mariusz Wirkowski as celebrant. A Rosary service will be held prior to the mass at 9:30AM also at the church with Deacon Allan Medina reciting. Interment will follow in Fairmount Cemetery.
Visitation for Molly will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2016 from 1:00PM until 5:00PM at the Peacock Family Chapel.
Molly was born on June 21, 1931 at Bernal, New Mexico to Jose and Juanita (Ortiz) Martinez and passed away on February 8, 2016 at the Lamar Estates at the age of 84 with her family by her side.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Peggy Palacios; her parents and grandson, Jonathan Segura.
Molly is survived by her children, Eleanor (Manuel) Alonzo of Colorado Springs, CO; Daniel (Beatrice) Martinez of Pueblo, CO; Raymond (Angie) Martinez of Granada, CO; Connie (Teodoro) Vasquez of Lamar; Bernie Martinez of Las Vegas, New Mexico; Earl Martinez of Lamar; Rachel (Joe) Asebedo of Garden City, KS and Cass (Erica) Palacios of Lamar; 22 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and many friends also survive.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Francis de Sales/Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church either direct or in care of the funeral home office.
