Lucy Dunham
A private family graveside service for lifelong Lamar resident, Lucy Dunham will be held at Fairmount Cemetery. A public come and go reception and time of remembrance for Lucy will be held at 4:00PM on Friday, February 20, 2026 at the Wiley United Methodist Church.
Per Lucy’s request there will be no visitation.
Lucy Marie Dunham passed away on February 14, 2026. She was born on September 29, 1927 near Alta Vista School, Lamar, Colorado to Otto C. and May (Morris) Lubbers. Lucy was the youngest of three children in this family. She grew up north of Lamar attending Columbine School and graduating from Lamar Union High School in May of 1945.
Lucy started working for the Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph office in Lamar in 1946 and after 36 years of service, retired in January 1982.
Lucy married Charlie Dean Dunham on October 8, 1950 at the First Baptist Church in Lamar, Colorado. From this union, two boys were born, Richard Dean and Charles Otto.
Lucy is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Stephanie Dunham of Lamar, CO, daughter-in-law Margaret Dunham of Birmingham, AL and four grandchildren Emily Dunham of Birmingham, AL, Karla (Dustin) Rippe of Fairbury, NE, Jacob (Katelyn) Dunham of Windsor, CO, and Christian (Lena) Dunham of Greenville, SC. Lucy also leaves behind seven great-grandchildren Kayden, Willow and Stratton Rippe of Fairbury, NE, Barrett and Daxton Dunham of Windsor, CO, and Henry and George Dunham of Greenville, SC and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, Otto C. and May Lubbers, her husband, Charlie Dunham, son Richard Dunham, brothers Robert and Wayne Lubbers, sister-in-law, Lorene Lubbers, great-grandson Karson Dean Rippe, and her beloved cat, Casper.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Lamar Area Hospice and/or charity of one’s choice either direct or in care of the funeral home office.
