Josephine "Jo" Swenson
A memorial service for fomer longtime Lamar resident Josephine “Jo” Irene Swenson was held at 1:00 PM Saturday September 8, 2012 at the Lamar United Methodist Church with Reverend Ramon Robledo officiating. A private family interment was held at Fairmount Cemetery prior to the memorial service at the church.
In following Jo's wishes, the casket was closed during the visitation. Friends were welcomed to come to the funeral home Friday September 7, 2012 from 1:00 PM To 5:00 PM.
Josephine "Jo" Swenson was born on January 31, 1924 in Bloom, Kansas to Thomas Earl and Annie Elizabeth (Albright) Scott and quietly slipped away in the early morning hours of September 1, 2012 in the Littleton, Colorado care home where she had been lovingly served for the past seven years.
A loving wife, devoted mother, and constant friend, Jo was active in many facets of the life of our community for many years, most notably through the United Methodist church, as a member of the local P.E.O. chapter and through her antique business.
Jo was preceded in death by John, her husband of 49 years and her brother Wilbur Scott.
She is survived by sister Myrland Hertlein of Ardmore, OK; bother Sam Scott of Bloom, KA; sons Scott of Littleton, CO and Terry and wife Suzie of Monument, CO; five grandsons and three great-grandsons (with a great-granddaughter on the way).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be made to the Lamar United Methodist Church or to the Alzheimer's Association.
