A graveside memorial service for lifelong Lamar resident, Jo Ann Claybrook will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, April 21, 2017 at the Fairmount Cemetery.
Jo Ann was born on July 7, 1935 at Lamar, Colorado to Stephen and Inez (Roloson) Crabill and passed away at Lamar Estates on April 8, 2017 at the age of 81.
She attended Lamar Public Schools until May 12, 1951 when she married JT Claybrook in Clayton, New Mexico. They would live the rest of their lives in Lamar.
Jo Ann was a full time wife and mother. She always made sure to have a spotless home, yard and even the gutter. She worked hard helping JT on the family farm building fences or a corral, pulling wells, or whatever was needed. She worked the election board several years and Coles Pharmacy for a short time. She also had monthly card parties with her girlfriends and always enjoyed those evenings. She was a square dance mom and set mother for all 3 kids through high school, enjoyed watching the two boys in baseball and was active with the Eagles auxiliary many years. Then came along the camper, Good Sams, and all the good times hanging out with friends and seeing new sights.
Jo Ann and JT have three kids, Jim (Lisa) live in Blackfoot, Idaho, Kenny and Judy (Greg) Lauerman all live in Lamar.
She was a good mom, always had food on the table, clean clothes to wear, and a fly swatter to chase all the kids to keep them in line, family or not since all the neighbor kids came to her house to play.
A few years after JT passed, signs of dementia changed her life. She hated leaving her home behind. It wasn’t long before she did not remember her home and the progression continued.
She is preceded in death by her husband J.T. Claybrook on September 29, 1994, her grandson, Joshua as well as her parents and her brothers and sisters.
JoAnn is survived by three children, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many relatives and a host of friends.
Services are under the direction of the Peacock Family.
