Jimmie Wayne “J.W.” Wilks

A memorial celebration of life for Wiley resident Jimmie Wayne Wilks affectionately known to his family and friends as J.W. will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, February 27, 2026 at the Life Center Church in Lamar, Colorado with Pastor Manuel Tamez and Pastor Mike Schneider co-officiating. Inurnment will be held at 2:00PM MST at the Syracuse Cemetery in Syracuse, Kansas with full Military Honors under the auspices of the Southwest Kansas Veterans Funeral Honor Guard.

J.W. was born on October 1, 1944 at Columbus, Kansas to Wayne Gordon and Betty Lou (Gray) Wilks and passed away on February 3, 2026 at Pueblo, Colorado.

He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Lugina Williamson and brother John Walker.

J.W. is survived by his wife Wanda Wilks of the family home in Wiley, his children Jeff (Debbie) Wells of Wiley, CO, Gari Sue (Ronnie) Wells of Hugo, CO, Chauna Powell of Indianapolis, IN and Chad Wells of Syracuse, KS, 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and a host of friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project either direct or in care of the funeral home office.
