Harry F. Spitzer

A celebration of life for longtime Lamar resident Harry Spitzer will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at the Peacock Family Chapel with Pastor Lou Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at the McClave Cemetery in McClave, Colorado.

Visitation for Harry will be held prior to the services from 9:00AM until 11:00AM on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at the Peacock Family Chapel.

Harry was born on May 13, 1937 at McClave, Colorado to Eli Franklin and Eva Marie (Colebourn) Spitzer and passed away on April 22, 2026 at the Bent County Nursing Home with his family by his side at the age of 88.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son Randy “Stretch” Spitzer, daughter by marriage Cynthia (Jay) West, siblings Harold Spitzer, Lloyd Spitzer, Robert Spitzer, Mary Chatham, Edwin Spitzer, Clyde Spitzer, Richard Spitzer, Thelma Schibbelhut, Lola McElroy and Norma Lou Boggio.

Harry is survived by his wife Florence “Flossie” Spitzer of the family home in Lamar, CO, son Gregory (Kelly) Spitzer of Wiley, CO, daughter-in-law Clara Spitzer of Walsh, CO, children by marriage Eldon Hays of Winterpark, CO, Eric (Mary) Hays of Winterpark, CO, Lee (Chris) Hays of St. Helen, OR, Mellisia (Jason) Williams of Keni, AK. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and a host of friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bent County Health Care Center and/or Arkansas Valley Hospice either direct or in care of the funeral home.
