A joint celebration of life memorial service for longtime Lamar residents, Theresa F. Eisenhauer and Harry D. Eisenhauer will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at the Lamar Christian Church with Reverend Rory Gillespie of the Lamar First Presbyterian Church officiating. A private interment of their ashes will be held at Fairmount Cemetery in the Veteran’s Section with full Military Honors under the auspices of the Lamar VFW Post #3621 and the American Legion Post #71 for Mr. Eisenhauer.

Per Theresa and Harry’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be no public visitation.

Theresa was born on March 4, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois, the oldest of 10 children that were born to John and Marie Angela (Kalich) Markovich and departed this life on Wednesday April 1, 2015 at the Joni Fair Hospice House in Pueblo, CO at the age of 83.

Theresa was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lamar; she enjoyed volunteering at the visitor center.  Theresa also loved to travel to interesting places; she was an avid reader and history buff.  On January 13 1951, she and Harry D. Eisenhauer were united in marriage; to this union were born eight children.  Theresa and her family moved in 1960 to build their life in Lamar.

Harry was born on August 18, 1928 on the family farm 10 miles east of Council Grove, Kansas to Anthony Joseph and Hazel (Drake) Eisenhauer and departed this life on May 7, 2015 at the Columbine Commons in Windsor, Colorado at the age of 86.

Harry graduated from Herrington High School in 1945 at 16, and went to work for J C Pennys company full time. He married Theresa Francis Markovich on January 13, 1951. Harry was drafted into the US Army in February of 1951. After his release from the Army on November 18, 1952 he returned to work for J C Pennys stores in the Kansas City, Kansas area, Store Manager in Gordon, Nebraska and Lamar, Colorado. On April 6, 1963 he opened Eisenhauser’s Dept Store in Lamar and operated it until February of 1991. His hobbies included traveling with family, skiing and whatever sporting event his children were participating in that day.

Theresa was preceded in death by her parents; by one brother – John; by two sisters – Genevieve and Nellie; as well as by one grandson – Logan Eisenhauer.

Harry is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Theresa, his parents; two brothers; one sister, Mary Grace Holcomb and one grandson, Logan Eisenhauer.

Theresa and Harry are survived by their eight children – Terri (Don) Reish of Canon City, CO; Rita (Bob) Carlucci of Alamosa, CO; Harry Eisenhauer, Jr. of Buckeye, AZ; Joanie English of Wichita, KS; Beth (Monty) Peterson of Castle Rock, CO; John (Paula) Eisenhauer of Ft. Collins, CO; Mike (Ronda) Eisenhauer of Wichita; and Gretchen Eisenhauer of Castle Rock, CO; by 24 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; by Theresa’s six siblings – Joanie Perkins; Rita Tunnicliff; Marie Shepherd; Frank Markovich; Richard Markovich; and Stanley Markovich; and Harry’s four sisters, Zelda Mae Blair, Ruth Ilene Young, Doris Ann Franklin and Sharon Kay Holcomb.  They are also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.

Memorial contributions for either Theresa or Harry may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Lamar and/or The Lamar Area Hospice or for Theresa; the Joni Fair Hospice House of Pueblo, and for Harry; the Pathways Hospice of Ft Collins either directly or through the funeral home office.
