A Mass of Christian burial for former Granada, Colorado resident currently of Liberal, Kansas, Carmen Martinez was held at 10:00AM on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at the St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church in Holly with Reverend John Nkwocha as celebrant. A rosary service was held prior to the mass at 9:30 at the church with Josie French reciting. Interment followed at the Hillside Cemetery in Granada.
Visitation for Carmen was held on Monday, May 16, 2016 from 1:00PM until 7:00PM at the Peacock Family Chapel.
Carmen was born on September 16, 1934 at Fostoria, Ohio to Camilo and Frances (Johnson) Ortega and passed away on May 10, 2016 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 81.
She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Joyce Thompson and her siblings, Betty Jane Ortega, Joyce Gaytan and Mary Ann Martinez.
Carmen is survived by her husband, Victor Martinez of the family home in Liberal, KS, children Ronald Ortega, Curtis (Debbie) Thompson and Jaime Santibanez all of Toledo, OH and her siblings, Connie (Andy) Pecina, Elaine Rodriguez, Camila Ortega, Andy Bernal, Jr. and Sandra Ortega. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and many friends.
