Bev was the second of nine children raised on a farm helping her dad with beets, corn, hay, and milk cows. She graduated from Loveland High School in 1954, and went on to attend Parks Business School in Denver while she worked at Fox Denver Theatre. Upon graduation she was employed as a stenographer for the Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Company in Denver.

Bev met Billy B. Long prior to his military deployment eagerly awaiting his return. The two were married on May 17, 1958. She then became a housewife and mother to their three children Debbie, Janet, and Randy. In 1967 she began working for Safeway in Denver and was employed there until 1976 when the family moved to Wiley, CO. Bev transferred to the Lamar Safeway store where she became Assistant Manager. The family took over the Evans’ turkey farm until the processing plants closed; her and Billy then decided to start a dairy farm and milked cows until 1988. The two moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where Bev continued working for Safeway until she retired in 2000 after 33 years with the company. They then moved to The Resort in Mesa, Arizona, where she worked part time at the post office until her and Billy returned to Wiley, CO in 2011 to be closer to their children.

Bev loved to bowl in the 60s, 70s, and 80s winning many state competitions. Golfing became a passion of hers and she got her first hole-in-one at the age of 73. She was an avid gambler and liked playing the slot machines. Attending sporting events to watch her grandchildren, and later great grandchildren, was something she loved to do. She also enjoyed playing bingo and watching the Rockies and old westerns on TV.

Beverly Long has impacted the lives of everyone she knew, leaving behind a lasting legacy of love. Her family and friends will dearly miss her.
