            Graveside services for former longtime Lamar resident, currently of Amarillo, Texas, Alvyn G. “Bud” Barker was held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, September 9, 2016 at the Fairmount Cemetery in Lamar with John Sykes officiating.

            Per Bud’s request there was no public visitation.

            Bud was born on December 11, 1932 at Ashtola, Texas to Willis G. and Mary Josephine (Bennett) Barker and passed away on September 6, 2016 at the BSA Hospice of the Southwest in Amarillo, Texas at the age of 83.

            He is preceded in death by his second wife, Ladelle Barker; his parents and his precious grandson, Taylor Paul Barker and his sister, Myrne Searingen.

            Bud is survived by his children, Danny (Jackie) Barker and Rhonda Barker both of Amarillo, TX; grandchildren, Amanda (Jeremy) Roberts and their son Pierce of San Antonio, TX; Melanie Sanchez and children of Paris, TX and Randi Barker of Amarillo, TX; step-children, Larita Houser of Groom, TX; Vervia (Spiro) Botsonis and family, Mervia Rosengrants all of Amarillo, TX, Zella Hancock and family of Springfield, CO and Otella Reifschneider and family of Denver, CO. He is also survived by his twin sister, Evalyn (Floyd) Burton of Graniz, AR and his younger sister, Lily (Clyde) Tamplen of Belton, TX as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and many friends. 

           In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the National MS Society in Amarillo and/or Veteran’s Administration either direct or in care of the funeral home office.
