A Celebration of Life for lifelong Lamar resident, Walter R. Ely will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, December 17, 2010 at the
Lamar
First
Baptist
Church with Reverend Dave Davis officiating. Graveside Committal service will follow at the
Maxey
Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2010 from 1:00PM until 7:00PM with Walter’s family receiving friends from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Peacock Family Chapel.
Walter was born on January 6, 1951 at
Lamar, Colorado to Vernon Dale and Hazel Marie (Babb) Ely. Walter joined the Lord in eternal grace on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at
Memorial
Hospital in
Colorado Springs at the age of 59.
He is preceded in death by his parents,
Vernon and Hazel Ely of Lamar.
Walter is survived by his brothers; Dale (Veida) Ely of Canon City, CO, R. Keith (Marie Pixler) Ely of Denver, CO, and one sister, Annette (Karlton) Ely-Halbert of
Pipe Creek, TX. He is also survived his four aunts; June (Delmas) Babb Beaman of Sheridan Lake, CO, Dorothy (Charlie) Babb Marriott of Olney Springs, CO, Genevieve Ely Grover of Springfield, CO and Geraldine Ely Schnabel of Granada, CO and one uncle, Dean (Peggy) Babb of Cheraw, CO. Six nephews, 5 nieces, grand nieces, nephews, cousins and his many friends and family of Southeastern Developmental Service and the Lamar Community also survive.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the SDS Consumer Fund in care of the funeral home office.
