W.P. "Willie" Bridge
A Memorial Celebration for W.P. “Willie” Bridge, 83, Longtime Lamar Resident and WWII Veteran was held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at the Peacock Family Chapel with Ian Blacker of the Lamar Christian Church officiating. A graveside service with full military honors was held at the Veteran’s Section of Fairmount Cemetery under the auspices of the Lamar VFW, St. George Creaghe Jr., Post #3621
W.P. was born on September 23, 1923 at Quincy, Illinois and passed away on June 6, 2007 at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Ethel (Augustine) Bridge, his two brothers, Marley Bridge and Jerry Bridge and his sister, Thelma Gray.
Mr. Bridge is survived by his wife of 63 years, Pauline of the family home, children; Randy (Donna) Bridge of Lamar, Christina Williams of Cisco, TX, Doug Bridge of Holly, CO, and Don Bridge of Phoenix, AZ. His grandchildren; Rendi (Cliff) Tayloe, Trevor Bridge, Shelley Williams, Brad (Jill) Williams, Shawna Hodge and Troy Williams, David (Eve) Bridge, Michael Bridge, Jonathon Bridge, Summer (Steve) Street and Brandi (Chris) Hutto. He is also survived by his great grandchildren; Casey, Chalis, Cade, Cole, Clay, Brooklyn, Billy, Cirstye and Colby, Loren, Luke and Zoe as well as his two brothers-in-law, John Peterson of Lamar and Elmer Peterson of Crescent City, CA.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Prowers County Veterans Transportation Fund in care of the Peacock Funeral Home.
