A Memorial Service for Longtime Lamar resident, Robert Burton Bentley was held at 10:00AM on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at the Peacock Family Chapel with Ian Blacker of the Lamar Christian Church Officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
Per Robert’s request cremation will take place and there will be no visitation.
Robert was born on March 17, 1931 at Greasy Creek, Kentucky to Willie D. and Martha (Damron) Bentley and passed away on December 23, 2010 at
Center in Lamar at the age of 79.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Liz and
Alma and two brothers; Jim and Orbin.
Robert is survived by his wife; June Bentley of the family home in Lamar, children; Debora (Evan) Smith of Lamar, Robert Reno Bentley of Lamar and Dena (Brian) Long of Lamar, grandchildren; Christopher (Liz) Allen of Cheyenne Wells, Shelley Allen and Mandy Ferguson of Colorado Springs,Tara (Jay) Stum of Towner and Tory Hudlow of Columbia, Missouri. He is also survived by his nine great-grandchildren, sisters; Nona (George) Penrod of Rocky Ford, Norma (Arnold) Sneller of Lamar, Gail (Tom) Idler of Liberal, Kansas and June (Aubrey) Martin of Lamar, brothers; Mac (Hatti) Bentley of Springport, Missouri and Ken (Janice) Bentley of Lamar. Numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends also survive.
