Melissa Carol King Bowen

            A graveside service for current Schertz, Texas resident, formerly of Colorado, Melissa Bowen will be held at 1:00PM, Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at the Wiley Cemetery in Wiley, Colorado with Pastor Mike Schneider officiating.

            Melissa was born on June 22, 1968 at the Air Force Academy, Colorado to Robert and Nancy King and passed away on February 14, 2015 at the age of 46.

            Melissa attended Southwest Texas State where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Outdoor Recreation. She had worked for the Department of The Air Force as an Athletic Director, serving five years in Korea at both Kunsan and Osan Air Force bases. Melissa also worked as an Event Coordinator at the Henry B. Gonzales convention center as well as in the insurance industry for several years before becoming a sales and service representative for Cole Hersee, covering the western half of the United States. Melissa was also active for several years with the San Antonio Sports Association working during the Final Four events held in San Antonio.

            She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents; Philip and Marie Schwartz and paternal grandparents; Ralph and Alice King.

            Melissa is survived by her son; Tyler Morgan Bowen, parents; Robert and Nancy King, brother; Robert E. King, Jr., sister-in-law; Maribeth King all of Schertz, TX, nieces; Jordan and Alyssa and nephew; John. Numerous other family and a host of friends also survive.

            In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Scholarship fund for her son, Tyler Bowen. Contributions may be sent to Robert King at 2700 Kline Circle, Schertz, TX 78154 or to the charity of one’s choice.
