Marie Rose Wallace
Marie Rose Wallace known by her family as "ReeRee" was born August 26,1928
and departed this life August 12, 2013 at her home in Lamar with her family by her side.
Marie was born to Arthur and Rose Oberlander of Fromberg, Montana in 1928, she attended grade school in Midwest, Wyoming after which her family moved to Bairoil, Wyoming, where her father had a long career in the oilfields.
She attended high school in Rawlins, Wyoming where she led the Outlaw band being drum majorette. This is where she met the love of her life, Edward James Wallace during her freshman year. After three years in the navy Edward decided it was time to return to Rawlins and make Marie his bride and partner for life on June 23,1947. Together they raised two daughters, Catherine Ann and Theresa Rose.
The four of them began their lives living in Sinclair Wyoming where Ed worked at the Sinclair Oil & Gas Refinery and Marie worked as a lively switch board operator at Mountain Bell. "Josephine, eat your heart out".
In 1962 they moved to Rocky Ford Colorado where Marie took on several career opportunities. Administrative Secretaries at the National Bank and also RF Woolgrowers.
We were always in large supply of Lanolin. However soon she became weary of sitting at a desk and decided to explore the world of real estate. She obtained her real estate sales license and went to town satisfying the needs of soon to be new home owners. She continued this career well into her years until retirement.
Ed and Marie traveled to California and then to Florida before returning to her final resting place Lamar Colorado. Marie's family was at the top of her lists of things she loved along with golfing, gardening, painting, tap dancing and of course yodeling.
Her grandchildren called her their yodeling grandma...in fact the day before she passed she yodeled for her
caregivers...the final love of her life was her grandchildren and her three great grandchildren—she
attended their sporting events to cheer them on to victory. Marie passed away on August 12, 2013 at her home in Lamar with her family by her side at the age of 84.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents Art and Rose, by her brother Fred, brothers in law Jack
Williams and Cal Jebens.
