Lois J. Venn

Lois J. (Weatherred) Venn of Greeley, CO passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Garden Square at Westlake in Greeley. She was born on October 3, 1930 in Scott City, KS. Lois moved with her family to Lamar, CO when she was two years old. 

She graduated from Lamar High School in 1949. She married Max Venn in the First Baptist Church in Lamar after graduation. Lois worked for Mt. Bell before and after she was married

Lois and Max moved to Miles City, MT in 1953 and lived on a cattle ranch. They ranched for 18 years before moving back to Colorado to the Pierce area and lived on a feed lot. They lived there for three years and then moved to Walden, CO for two years. After living in Walden they moved to Ault and lived there for a number of years. In 1986 Max and Lois built a house in the Ault/Pierce area.

Lois was a bookkeeper for her husband’s general contracting company. 

She was a housewife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Greeley, which is now Crossroads Community Church, for over 30 years. Lois served as a Sunday school teacher, Treasurer, and Deaconess. Lois was also a member of Tri-Fine Club, Carousel Club, North Weld Saddle Club, and Greeley Saddle Club.

Lois enjoyed gardening, music, horse shows, and plays. She was a good mother and grandmother to her children and was deeply loved by them.

She is survived by her daughters, Jayne (Ken) Gunter, and Kayce; grandchildren, Bonnie Brinker, and Anna Ludwig; great-grandchildren, Matthew Gunter, Rylee Brinker, and Skyler Ludwig; and daughter-in-law, Patty Venn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Max; son, John; brothers, Duane, and Bob; sisters, Anna Lee and Caryol J Heckman; and great-granddaughter, Chloe. 

Viewing was on Friday, March 18, 2016 from 5-7 p.m. at Adamson Chapel, 2000 47th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80634 and from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, March 21, 2016 at Peacock Funeral Home, 209 South 4th Street, Lamar, CO 81052. Graveside services were held at  10:30 AM Tuesday, March 22, 2016 in Fairmount Cemetery in Lamar.
