A Funeral Liturgy service for longtime Lamar resident, Gary S. Whisenand, was held at 10:00 AM Monday May 20, 2013 at the St. Francis de Sales/Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Lamar. Deacon Henry Wertin will be the Liturgist. Burial will follow in the Holly Cemetery in Holly, Colorado.
A Rosary service for Gary was held at 9:30 AM Monday May 20, 2013 also at St. Francis de Sales/Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Visitation for Gary was held from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon Sunday May 19, 2013 at the Peacock Family Chapel in Lamar.
Gary was born on June 25, 1951 in Holly, Colorado to Jake and Ruth Stevens-Whisenand and departed this life on Thursday May 16, 2013 at Juniper Village in Lamar at the age of 61.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and by one son – Gary Walkinshaw.
Mr. Whisenand is survived by three children – Ryan Whisenand; Heather Whisenand of Denver and Zack Whisenand of Greeley; by four step children – Jonathan (Tara) Qualls of Firestone, CO; Felicia Qualls of Bixby, OK; Eric (Rose) Qualls of Denver; and Gina Qualls of Lamar; and by nine grandchildren as well as Gary’s siblings: Terry (Judy) Whisenand of Holly, Robert Hurley of Lamar, Tom Wartman of Holly, Velma Hill of Holly and Wilma (Cordell) Ice of Pueblo along with numerous nieces nephews other relatives and many friends.
