Don Hammons
A Memorial Service for rural Lamar resident, Don Hammons was held at 10:00 AM, Friday, August 30, 2013 at the Lamar Christian Church with Reverend Phil Harris of Imperial, Nebraska officiating. A private family interment of Don’s ashes will follow at a later date at the Wiley Cemetery.
Per the family’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be no public visitation.
Don was born on February 23, 1933 at San Jon, New Mexico to Jacob Parker and Bessie Fern (Buchanan) Hammons and passed away at his home on August 25, 2013 at the age of 80.
Mr. Hammons is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers; Orley, Troy, Owen and Crosby Hammons and a sister Thelma Mead.
He is survived by his wife Vera of the family home; his children Tamara (Donny) Reinhardt of Canadian, TX, T.D. (Shari) Hammons of Amarillo, TX and Talara (Brady) Coen of Wiley. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Takara, TaiAnn, Gage, Shelby, Rayce and Payson as well as his sister Flo Richardson of Panhandle, TX. Numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends also survive.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Lamar Area Hospice or to the Lamar Christian Church direct or in care of the Peacock Funeral Home.
