Charles L. “Charlie” Piatt

           A come and go memorial luncheon for lifetime Bent County resident, Charlie Piatt was held on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 11:30 AM at the Hasty/McClave Fire House in Hasty, CO.

            Per Charlie’s request cremation has taken place and there was no visitation.

            Charlie was born on February 15, 1942 at Lamar, Colorado to Laurence and Hazel (Lirley) Piatt and passed away on April 13, 2012 at his home in Hasty with his family by his side at the age of 70.
            Charlie had a love for the area he knew as home and was active in the community.  He helped pioneer the Hasty Water Company and served as a board member as well as president for numerous years.  He was an avid outdoorsman, photographer, rock collector, and gardener and always enjoyed a challenge.  Most importantly, he had a selfless devotion to his family and loved ones.  He is loved by many and will be missed dearly. 

            He is preceded in death by his father; Laurence Piatt.

            Charlie is survived by his wife; Colleen Piatt of the family home in Hasty, his mother; Hazel Piatt of McClave, children; Charles (Tammy) Piatt, Jr. of Bangor, ME, Sonya (George) Lopez of Santa Fe, NM, Justin Piatt of Hasty, Bo (Kori) Sexson of Platteville, CO and Blaine (Jenifer) Sexson of Hasty, and Julie Appel-Milligan whom he loved like a daughter.  He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, his brother; Alvin (Marie) Piatt of Austin, TX, sisters; Kathy Walker and Mary (Mitch) Cass all of McClave as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family and a host of friends.

            Memorial Contributions may be made to the Hasty Water Company or to the Hasty Daze Scholarship Fund either direct or in care of the funeral home office.
