A Mass of Christian burial for lifelong Lamar resident was held at 10:00AM on Friday, February 26, 2016 at the St. Francis de Sales/Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Reverend Mariusz Wirkowski officiating. A rosary was held prior to the mass at 9:30AM with Deacon Allan Medina reciting. Interment followed at the Fairmount Cemetery in the Veteran’s Section.

Visitation for Bessie was held on Thursday, February 25, 2016 from 2:00PM until 5:00PM at the Peacock Family Chapel.

Bessie was born on April 5, 1938 at Lamar, Colorado to Candelario and Guadalupe (Flores) Leal and passed away on February 22, 2016 at the Sunny Vista Living Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado with her family by her side at the age of 77.

She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Magdalene Sue Medina and her siblings, Jesse Leal; Enrique Leal; Tavy Alvarado and Alice Rivera.

Bessie is survived by her husband, Don Peters of the family home in Lamar; children, Veronica (Claud) Blevins of Westminster, CO; Angel (Manuel) Madrid of Lamar; Dolores (Mark) Sasina of Colorado Springs, CO; Marina (Gibby) Padilla of Lamar; Rose Torrez of Northglenn, CO; Beatrice (John) Haggard and David (Dani) Medina all of Lamar and Celena Hernandez of Colorado Springs, CO; twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Candelario (Rachel) Leal of Granada, CO as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and a host of friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bessie Peters Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home office.
