A Celebration of Life for longtime Lamar resident Al L. Shoup will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, May 14, 2012 at the Peacock Family Chapel with Ian Blacker of the Lamar Christian Church officiating. Interment will follow with full Military Honors under the auspices of the Lamar VFW Post 3621 and the American Legion Post 71 at the Veteran’s Section of Fairmount Cemetery.
Visitation for Mr. Shoup will be held on Monday morning from 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
Al was born on April 7, 1927 at Plains, Kansas to Roy and Elizabeth (Hendricks) Shoup and passed away at the Valley View Health Care Center in Canon City, Colorado on May 9, 2012 at the age of 85.
He is preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers and one sister.
Al is survived by his wife Pauline of the family home as well as his children; Jerry (Connie) Shoup of Denver, Paula (Dave) Brase of Lamar, Terry (Max) Anderson of Lamar, Tina (Ed Douglas) Miller of Hasty, Billie Jo Sniff, Buddy Shoup and Joe (Mindy) Shoup all of Lamar. Also surviving are his 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 2 sisters as well as other relatives and many friends.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Lamar Christian Church either direct or in care of the funeral home.
