Harold J. Book
A Memorial Service for longtime Prowers County Resident, Harold J. Book was held at 3:00 PM, Friday, April 2, 2010 at the Peacock Funeral Home with Allan Dykes officiating.
Mr. Book was born on November 14, 1916 at Elk Falls, Kansas to Raymond and Sadie (Goodwin) Book and passed away at the age of 93 on March 30, 2010 at his residence in Lamar with his family by his side.
Harold is preceded in death by his wife Helen L. (Haynes) Book, parents and his siblings; Gracie Ramona, Olive, LaVur and Claude.
He is survived by his granddaughter Marilyn (Lloyd Wells) Owen of Lamar his great grandchildren; B.J. (Carrie) Griffin of Colorado Springs, Jerre (Braunwyn) Griffin of south of Lamar, Dustin (Summer) Owen and Tam
my (Richard) Whisenand all of Lamar; his great great grandchildren; Reannon, Paige, Brock, Jade and Jordyn. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews; Frances Brushburg of CA, Peggy Keenan of Guymon, OK, Rose Ann Bersheng of Aurora, CO, Patricia Book of Guymon, Ok, Alice (Raymond) Bender of Lamar as well as his grand nieces and great grand nieces and nephew; Richard, Larry, Darren and Wendy and Emily, Zachary, Gavin, Paul and a very special Cole.
Memorial contributions may be to the Lamar Area Hospice or to the charity of one’s choice either direct or in care of the Peacock Funeral Home.

So sorry for your loss. It will be hard to drive down the back road and know that Harold is not there anymore. He was a very special person and his good humor and gentle nature made being his friend very easy. We feel blessed to have had such a fine example of humanity grace our lives. He will be missed. |

Harold was a fine man and I remember many times going swimming in the creek down at the ranch with his nieces, Peggy, Pat and Alice when we were kids.
